Minako: Fuku
This is one of the very first designs Naoko had for Minako. The costume is much different from the final design, but somewhat similar to the Sailor V costume.
Like Sailor V, this design includes a mask, and a crescent mark on Minako's forehead. Neither of these elements were included in the final costume.
Her shoulders are covered by hard shoulder pads that protrude out from under her sailor collar. Instead of the blue bow we are used to, there is an orange sailor scarf. The scarf is decorated by a crescent and Venus symbol.
Her skirt is detached from her shirt, and the bottom has a stripe design. Her gloves are white, and she wears a ring on her left hand. The stripes and ring are not on the final costume.
Minako wears blue pumps with an ankle band, which has a yellow crescent on it. Her shoes become orange in the later design.
This is the costume that Sailor V wears, throughout the series 'Codename Wa: Sailor V,' also briefly seen in Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon. It closely resembles some of Naoko's first drafts, but has some noticeable changes.
Just as the first drafts, Sailor V is seen with a mask and crescent mark instead of a tiara. She has orange stud earrings, which were also included in the first design.
She still wears hard shoulder pads, but her scarf has been replaced by the traditional bow. The center of her bow is adorned by a yellow pendant.
The costume is still two pieces, with a shirt and skirt. As in the earlier drafts, there is a stripe on the bottom of her skirt. The number of stripes has decreased, however. Her gloves are simple and white with orange padding at the elbow.
She still wears her blue pumps, with the ankle band. The crescent mark has disappeared, though.
This costume is very close to that of the final design, but has a few minor differences. This is another one of Naoko's drafts that led to the fuku we know today.
The mask is gone, as is the crescent moon shape. The mark on her forehead has become a golden tiara with an orange gem. Her earrings remain simple studs.
Her red bow is now blue, to contrast with her mainly orange costume. The pendant in the middle, however, is still yellow. The hard shoulder pads have changed into softer alternatives.
Minako's costume is now one piece, unlike her past few designs. An orange pleated skirt has replaced the blue one. Around her waist is a chain that she uses in multiple attacks.
Her shoes are now orange, instead of blue. The ankle band remains, but once again, the crescent symbol is absent.
In the end, Sailor Venus's costume is a white bodice with an orange skirt, and sailor collar. The bow remains blue. As she becomes stronger, minor changes occur in her costume.
