Usagi: Fuku ![]() Here we see a very early design of Sailor Moon's costume. It's very different from the final design, though it has similar characteristics to Naoko's next sketch. Sailor Moon's hair was first colored pink. She still has her odango hairstyle, though. The tiara we generally know is included in the first sketches. The goggles Naoko designed are only seen in the very early manga.
The sailor collar is nothing new--Naoko includes this in almost all of her designs. The choker is a bit different, however. In this sketch, it's pink and decorated with a crescent moon and something similar to her pendant. She also has crescent moon earrings.
Here we see the bow. It's pink and she has her early pendant. This changes as she advances. Also, her she has white padding sleeves.
The gloves are a traditional white, as the blue plaid skirt. This is similar to the final design. However, her costume is in two pieces.
She wears white boots with a band of red toward the top. This has a crescent mark on it.
![]() This is one of Naoko's later (but still fairly early) designs of Sailor Moon. It's also very different from the fuku we know, but bears a few noticable similarities. In this sketch, Sailor Moon's hair is blonde. Her tiara is the same (though a little more red) as is the hair style. But, Naoko added hair clips to the costume and the mask has disappeared.
Her choker the same as in the original draft, though is now white. Her earrings are very similar, if only a different a color. Of course, the sailor collar is also the same.
Here is her bow, which isn't much different. She still has the pendant and it is still a pinkish color. Naoko colored the padding sleeves pink, also.
The fuku is in one piece now, as is Naoko's final design for Sailor Moon's costume. The skirt is blue, but the gloves are now pink instead of white.
Her boots are the same basic design, with a few chagnes. They're now pink with a white band, where a crescent mark accents her costume.
Sailor Moon's costume changes greatly from Naoko's last sketch. The fuku becomes a little more elegant and less... pink. The final costume's basic design was one piece with a blue skirt, white gloves, red bow, and red boots. It seemed to me that as the series grew a bit more mature, the Sailor's fukus did as well. |
